COLORADO ICE CLIMBING

BEGINNER ICE CLIMBING

For 2008/09, PPAS is pleased to offer one day climbing excursions tailored to the experience level of the participant ranging from beginner or expert. The programs will begin in late November, 2008, and extend through May, 2009.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Maximum ratio of one guide for every two climbers to insure a safe and challenging experience
  • Climbing agenda tailored to the wants and abilities of all participants
  • Climbs offered in Colorado Springs on Pikes Peak and Mount Lincoln on Hossier Pass.
  • Free equipment rental for individuals that do not have there own mountaineering boots, ice climbing tools and crampons, as well as helmets, harnesses and belay devices

BASIC ICE 1 DAY PROGRAM

This one-day course is designed for new ice climbers with no prior climbing experience. Focusing mainly on building solid basic skills that are the root of all safe climbing practices, students will learn climbing technique, edge safety, top-rope anchors, rappelling skills, belaying, gear usage, placing ice gear and more.

PREREQUISITES:
None-- just a positive attitude and a willingness to have a blast!
GEAR PROVIDED:

Helmets, harnesses, boots, crampons, and technical tools; does not include personal clothing for climbing
